The AES Electrophoresis Society traces its roots to 1972 and is a FACSS member society since 2025. Its mission is to advance and promote electric field-mediated separations, manipulations, and related phenomena. Much of the focus is within techniques associated with electrophoresis and electrokinetics which are numerous and include dielectrophoresis, isoelectric focusing, 2-D, SDS PAGE, capillary, free-flow, and classical gel systems. To learn more about the society, visit the Member Societies page on the FACSS Website.
As a reminder, The AES Electrophoresis Society is affiliated with Micromachines, and its members receive a discount on article processing charges.
The following awards are supported and awarded by The AES Electrophoresis Society:
BLUE FINGERS STUDENT AWARD
The AES Student Award recognizes the most outstanding student paper submitted for the AES Annual Conference (being held in conjunction with SciX) by a graduate student at the time of application. The award recipient needs to be an AES member will receive a cash award ($500). In order for their presentation to be considered for the AES ‘Blue Fingers’ Student Award, students should submit their abstract to an AES session during the SciX open call for abstracts. The awardee will give a 20 minute oral presentation at the AES Annual Conference.

AES LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
The AES Lifetime Achievement Award is given for exceptional career contributions to the fields of Electrophoresis, Electrokinetics, and related areas. One award is presented every year at the AES Annual Conference (held in conjunction with SciX). The recipient of the award will receive a plaque, a certificate of lifetime membership to the society, and a complementary registration to the annual meeting where the award will be presented.
