Craft beer production is a perfect art that relies heavily on science. The control that is put into taking multiple agricultural ingredients and turning them into a consistently accurate product is only possible through the creation of quality analytical data and using it effectively to meet the expectation and demand of the consumers. Breweries of all sizes employ several quality driven analytics throughout the processes on the spot and larger breweries will even employ one or more labs to focus strictly on the science involved in making consistent targeted product. These labs are typically broken down into three areas of focus: beer microbiology; beer chemistry; and sensory science. These three regimens combined will ensure that each beer looks, smells, tastes, feels and even ages exactly as expected. On this tour we will walk the process of beer production from raw material receiving to finished product shipping and everything in between.
