SciX 2013
Blue Dome

Milwaukee, Wisconsin Sept 29 – Oct 4, 2013

PROGRAM

Scientific presentations span the breadth of analytical chemistry with Plenary talks, Award talks and symposia, and topical poster sessions. Papers for SciX 2013 may be submitted here.

Plenaries

FACSS is pleased to announce the plenary speakers for 2013. Sustainability and minimization of environmental impact have become widely recognized drivers of innovation within chemistry. This year's focus is on Green Chemistry; Dr. Martyn Poliakoff CBE FRS and Dr. Paul Anastas, leaders and innovators in this field, are not to be missed at this year's conference.

Dr. Poliakoff

Martyn Poliakoff CBE FRS, University of Nottingham

Professor Poliakoff is a world renowned educator and researcher developing environmentally acceptable processes and materials.  He received his CBE in 2008  for his service to science.  He is also Foreign Secretary of the Royal Society, a post that dates back to 1723. Watch his popular series on the periodic chart at www.periodicvideos.com.

Dr. Poliakoff

Paul Anastas Heinz Professor, Yale University, Forestry & Environmental Studies

Professor Anastas is the Director of the Center for Green Chemistry and Green Engineering at Yale University. He also served for many years at the EPA, where he coined the term ‘Green Chemistry’ www.greenchemistry.yale.edu.

Award Sessions

Ten award symposia are scheduled, plus numerous student and FACSS-sponsored poster awards. A full list of awards with detailed information is here.

The FACSS Innovation Award, now in its third year, is a juried prize awarded to the most innovative, creative, and outstanding work making its world debut at SciX. The winner is selected in a special oral session featuring five candidates selected from contributed talks, and receives a $1500 cash prize.

Poster Sessions

Multiple poster sessions are distributed throughout the week, starting at the Conference Opening on Sunday evening and continuing every day on the exhibit floor. Awards for the best posters in each session are selected by FACSS.

Contributed Talks

New and innovative contributions are at the heart of the FACSS goal of fostering scientific exchange. Space is dedicated in every oral session for contributed papers to give them a wide audience. Both professionals and students are encouraged to submit their work here.

Topical Areas

SciX traditionally focuses on the following areas. However, presentations in every area of analytical chemistry are accepted and encouraged.
